BIO

PhD – Environmental and Occupational Health

Mary is a third year Environmental and Occupational Health PhD student. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a masters degree in Biology with a Zoology emphasis and also earned her bachelors degrees in Psychology and Biology from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Mary conducts research in Dr. Todd Miller’s Laboratory of Aquatic Environmental Microbiology and Chemistry (www.toddrexmiller.com). Her research involves looking at the cyanobacterial neurotoxin β-Methylamino-L-alanine (BMAA) in relationship to drinking water, sampling Lake Winnebago water at various stages of treatment from water filtration plants. Mary also is the Director of the McNair Scholars Program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and she teaches Human Anatomy in the Department of Biology/Microbiology. In her spare time I like to swim laps, cook and bake desserts
