She is currently a MPH student in the Community and Behavioral Health Promotion track. Melissa received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Growing up from the north side of Milwaukee she became passionate to make changes in my community. Social determinants of health, primary prevention, program planning and implementation have become her prime interest in her MPH program. Melissa’s research interests range from maternal and infant health to access to healthy foods. Specific research areas that interest her are pre-term birth rates among African American women in Milwaukee and low breastfeeding rates. Her long term goals are to get her PhD in Community and Behavioral Health Promotion at Zilber School of Public Health. She looks forward to embarking in the amazing research at Zilber School of Public Health that is taking place to facilitate change in Milwaukee and creating a healthier place to live.
