PhD - Environmental and Occupational Health
I am a member of the inaugural class of UWM’s Zilber School of Public Health. I am pursuing a PhD in Environmental and Occupational Health and work as a Graduate Research Assistant in Dr. Michael Laiosa's Laboratory of Developmental Immunotoxicology. My work there uses both cell culture and mouse models to study the impact of environmental contaminants on the developing immune system. My research interests focus on how exposures during pregnancy can result in immune disorders later in life. My first career was as a High School Science teacher. I then spent 12 years raising my three children, tutoring Math and Science, and volunteering with La Leche League International before returning to Graduate School in 2009.
