MPH - Community and Behavioral Health
As the Volunteer/Marketing and Operations Coordinator for The Healing Center, I plan events, organize outreach opportunities and write the annual report and newsletters. I reach out to the community to promote the center and teach others how to stay safe from sexual violence. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Strategic Media and Public Relations. I volunteered for various causes, such as the Arizona Ironman Triathlon and participated in half marathons. I held an internship at David and Sam PR, one of Arizona’s leading Public Relations and Advertising agencies. I am a returning Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Zoeknog, a rural village in Mpumalanga, South Africa. I participated in outreach events to teach about HIV/AIDS, healthy living and making positive lifestyle choices. I also worked with young orphans at Obrigado Home Community Based Care and coordinated fundraising efforts to purchase necessary items such as school uniforms and food parcels. I conducted home visits for those living in child-headed households, evaluated their needs and helped to connect these families with donations. I also helped facilitate a girl’s club and pen pal program for South African students with a 6th grade class from Wisconsin. I continue to take an interest in international development and enjoy working on projects that help those living locally and abroad. I organized a book drive and created a library for a village in South Africa and continues to sell seed necklaces in support of women I worked with overseas. I am currently a student in the Master of Public Health Program at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
