Group Exercise Class Descriptions

20/20/20
Enjoy 20 minutes of 3 different formats! Begin with 20 minutes each of 2 different types of cardio (i.e. step, floor combinations, sports conditioning, kickbox) finishing with 20 minutes of muscle conditioning. A great full body workout! Every class will be different. Class limit 35.

Abs Express
15 minutes of exercises to strengthen and define the abdominals.  Class limit 35.

Aqua Fit
Splash into fitness with this fun and effective water exercise class. Work on cardiovascular fitness, muscle conditioning and stretching using a variety of exercises in both the shallow and deep ends of the pool.  Class limit 30.

Belly Dancing
Belly Dance has many benefits for your mind, body, and emotional state. It can help relieve back and joint pain, increase bone density, help you lose weight, and is a wonderful form of exercise. Belly Dance also decreases stress as the slow movements can put you into a dance meditation and the fast vigorous movements can help to relieve anxiety and mild depression. So whether you are belly dancing for enjoyment, toned abs, or to reduce stress it is a wonderful way to let loose, connect with others, and release your inner “you”. This belly dance class is for all shapes, sizes, and ages. People of all levels and abilities will be able to comfortably participate and enjoy themselves.  Class limit 35.

Boot Camp
Burn calories, sculpt muscles, improve balance and agility all in one workout. Incorporates Intervals, athletic drills and core conditioning.  Class limit 35.

Cardio Dance
This is a high intensity/low impact cardio class that incorporates a variety of dance elements. Come on and get movin’ with fun combinations to popular dance music.  This class is for everyone, with or without a dance background. Move, groove and sweat!  Class limit 40.

Circuit Challenge
Challenge yourself with the intense circuit style class incorporating intervals of strength and cardio.  May include a variety of sculpting, core conditioning, balance drills, plyometrics and agility drills.  Come ready to sweat!  Class limit 20.

Core Crunch
A 30-minute class designed to strengthen and tone your abdominal and lower back muscles. Challenge your core like never before!  Class limit 35.

Guts & Butts
Want to firm it up? Then get to the class that focuses on  exercises for the abs and lower body. We’ll utilize a variety of fitness equipment to tone up those areas! Class limit 35.

Kickbox Blast
Learn proper punching and kicking techniques and feel empowered through the use of focus pads. This class uses a variety of Martial Arts moves that will help you improve cardiovascular fitness, enhance muscle tone and increase confidence.  Class limit 30.

Step 30
This class, using an adjustable step platform, incorporates a variety of step combinations and power moves for a great workout packed into 30 minutes. Great for beginners, but intense enough for anyone.  Class limit 30.

Stretch & Tone
Full body stretching and conditioning exercises using one’s own weight, free weights, resistance bands, and balls.  Class limit 35.

Total Body Blast
This is an energizing circuit training workout that includes muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance intervals. Creative exercises will be performed using dumbbells, stability balls, barbells and much more to strengthen and tone all major muscle groups. By utilizing various fitness equipment and techniques, every class will be designed differently and will never be boring!  Class limit 35.

Zumba
An aerobic dance class full of Latin and other exotic music flavors. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. ZUMBA targets areas such as the gluteus, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle of the body...THE HEART! The sexy and explosive Latin rhythms create a party-like atmosphere that delivers results.  Class limit 40.

  • All participants must check-in with ID at the Information Center (no sooner than 30 minutes prior to the class start) to obtain pass for class.
    • Participants must present a pass to the class instructor to obtain access to class.
    • No participants will be admitted in a class without a pass.
    • Class passes are granted on a first come, first server basis. Class limits are noted by the class descriptions.
  • Be on time. Anyone arriving more then 5 minutes after the start of class may not be admitted.
  • Bring a water bottle to class.
  • Do not enter exercise area before the current class is finished.
  • Please secure all personal belongings in a locker. No bags, coats or other personal belongings allowed in the exercise areas.
  • Please wear comfortable, athletic clothing, clean, non-marking sole shoes.
  • Listen to your body!

  • Group-X classes are FREE for UWM students.
  • Members may purchase a Group X pass for $35 for unlimited acess to any Group-X class for the semester.
    • Purchase at the Information Center.
  • Note: Kickbox Blast is a Specialty class and requires registration along with a per semester fee of $20 for students and $30 for members.
