Group-X

We offer a wide variety of fun, safe and effective classes to meet the needs of our participants. With over 50 classes offered per week during the Fall & Spring semesters, we have something for everyone! Choose from classes such as Core Crunch, Guts & Butts, Boot Camp, Zumba, Kickbox Blast, Group Strength, Circuit Challenge and Group Cycle. Our highly trained, top quality instructors provide a motivating workout experience to help you reach your fitness goals! All classes include modifications for all fitness levels.

Group Exercise Class Descriptions

Boot Camp

Get ready for a 60 minute total body workout! Stay on track this summer by burning calories, sculpting muscle and improving endurance with cardio drills, muscle toning and core conditioning. Classes will take place outside, weather permitting. Always meet in RM 104. Class limit 30.

Cardio Drills & Strength

Improve your cardio and strength!  Begin each class with cardio conditioning incorporating a variety of moves & drills.  Finish with burst of strength training, targeting a different area of the body each week. Class limit 30.

Core Cardio

30 minutes of intense cardio and core conditioning moves to engage your core balance and coordination.  With a variety of exercises ranging from plyometrics to intervals, you will never get bored!  Be prepared to sweat your way slim and sculpted!  Class limit 30.

Core Crunch

A 30-minute class designed to strengthen and tone your abdominal and lower back muscles. Challenge your core like never before!  Class limit 30.

Group Strength

Get ready for a muscular conditioning workout like no other! Using free-weight equipment, our instructors will lead you through a total body weight training program that will tone and define your body. Includes a light cardio warm-up and abdominal training at the end of class. Class limit 30.

Guts & Butts

Want to firm it up? Then get to the class that focuses on  exercises for the abs and lower body. We’ll utilize a variety of fitness equipment to tone up those areas! Class limit 30.

Interval Extreme

Looking for an intense workout to challenge yourself and burn some serious calories? This effective, hour-long class is perfect for you! This class will incorporate cardio intervals and other exercises at a variety of intensities that will raise and lower your heart rate and give you a serious challenge. Get ready to sweat with Interval Extreme!  Class limit 30.

Kickbox Blast

Learn proper punching and kicking techniques and feel empowered through the use of focus pads. This class uses a variety of Martial Arts moves that will help you improve cardiovascular fitness, enhance muscle tone and increase confidence. Class limit 20.

Step

This class, using an adjustable step platform, incorporates a variety of cardio step combinations for intensity and excitement.  This class is guaranteed to give you a great cardio workout with a punch of muscle conditioning at the end.  Class limit 30.

Tone Zone

30 minutes of pure muscle work!  Utilize a variety of fitness equipment (from dumbbells to resistance bands and exercise balls) to get a fun, fast paced muscle toning workout in.  Class limit 30.

ULTIMATE Circuit

Take your group X experience to a new level with the ULTIMATE circuit! Incorporating dynamic and basic moves with bursts of cardio drills, work a wide variety of muscle groups.  Experience a different format every class to beat boredom!. Get ready for the ULTIMATE workout!  Class limit 30.

Zumba

An aerobic dance class full of Latin and other exotic music flavors. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. ZUMBA targets areas such as the gluteus, legs, arms, abdominals, and the most important muscle of the body...THE HEART! The sexy and explosive Latin rhythms create a party-like atmosphere that delivers results.  Class limit 50.

  • All participants must check-in with ID at the Information Center (no sooner than 30 minutes prior to the class start) to obtain pass for class.
    • Participants must present a pass to the class instructor to obtain access to class.
    • No participants will be admitted in a class without a pass.
    • Class passes are granted on a first come, first server basis. Class limits are noted by the class descriptions.
  • Be on time. Anyone arriving more then 5 minutes after the start of class may not be admitted.
  • Bring a water bottle to class.
  • Do not enter exercise area before the current class is finished.
  • Please secure all personal belongings in a locker. No bags, coats or other personal belongings allowed in the exercise areas.
  • Please wear comfortable, athletic clothing, clean, non-marking sole shoes.
  • Listen to your body!

  • Group-X classes are FREE for UWM students.
  • Members may purchase a Group X pass for $35 for unlimited access to any Group-X class for the semester.
