Martial Arts

The UWM RSF Martial Arts Program welcomes beginners and martial artists from all styles to participate. Our program is directed by 8th degree black belt Phil Sauer. Master Sauer has instructed our program since 1979 and has over 40 years experience in the martial arts. Master Sauer has taken an inter-disciplinary approach in developing our program to insure we meet the needs of our diverse student population. Master Sauer has assembled an accomplished group of instructors with expertise in varied martial arts styles such as Shorin-Ryu, Suikido, Kobudo, Taekwondo, Hopkido, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Muay Thai Kickboxing. With such diversity we can guarantee you will be challenged and gain knowledge through your participation. Stop by, have some fun, and try our program for a week free of charge. After you try it out, if you decide to enroll in the program the UWM Student Rate is only $20/semester.

Kobudo

Evolved from the use of simple farm tools, Okinawan Kobudo is the use of weapons such as sai, bo staff, and tonfa. This program not only teaches you weaponry techniques, but includes the practice of combative based drills of weapon versus weapon.

Suikido

This realistic application based workout combines elements of traditional Okinawan Shorin-Ryu with the extremely realistic and versatile self-defense based strikes, kicks, joint locks and throws, and pressure point training.

Aikido

Aikido is a Japanese martial art utilizing circular movement and body displacement to defuse the energy and momentum of an attacker by redirecting aggressive force into throws, joint locks, and arm bars.

Instruction

Instruction provided by KI Mind and body Systems, servicing the Milwaukee Martial Arts community since 1972.

About Master Tadashi Yamashita-Hanshi:

Sensei Tadashi Yamashita has dedicated over 50 years of his life to the practice of Okinawan Karate-Do and Kobudo and currently retains the rank of ninth degree black belt. As teh foremost karate and kobudo expert in teh U.S., Master Yamashita is sought after for seminars all over the world. He has been involved in with several moview including Enter the Dragon, The Octagon, American Ninja, and Rising Sun.

Satori Group

The Satori Group is an invitation only group for Black Belts who seek a deeper understanding of martial arts. These Black Belts need to be willing to make greater commitments of time and effort to achieve these goals.
