Greeting |
Hi!
Joining the staff of the Student Accessibility Center in 1999
was a
dream come true
for me! I have a long background in disability services, and it was
a natural progression
for me to come to SAC after working on campus for three years as an
Equal Opportunity
Specialist with the Diversity Office. I enjoy working with the
students, both those with
visual impairments or blindness and those who need my office’s services
for alternative texts.
My position as Program Manager provides me with a wealth of
work, be
it working directly
with blind or visually impaired students; providing accommodation
knowledge
to faculty and
instructors; being a source of knowledge for those on and off campus
who need disability
information; coordinating the alternative text reading schedule and
volunteers; recruiting those
wonderful volunteers (hint hint); or speaking with campus
administrators
about accessibility for
the visually impaired.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer reader for the
alternative
text program, just call
or email, I’ll be happy to give you an orientation!

Background |
Master of Public Administration, University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee Bachelor of Science, Human Services and
Spanish, University
of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Academic Staff Codification Committee
(Chair 2000) Coach and Volunteer, Special Olympics, North
Suburban
I grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin with three brothers and
three sisters. I went to UW-Oshkosh for my undergrad degree, and during
that time, attended Cuahenauac
school for language in Mexico.
I lived with a family there and spent time on weekends
doing the tourist thing. I have also worked at a group home for
autistic adults, as well as several other
residential and occupational sites. Upon completion of my MPA
degree, I started working in the
Diversity/Compliance Office, completing the annual Affirmative Action
Plan, Career Tracking, and research
for trainings and other documents. In my spare time, I enjoy coaching
Special Olympics Soccer,
Volleyball, and volunteering for Basketball and I also sing in a band
with a former co-worker.
