There
seems to always be construction somewhere on campus, and often it
affects accessibility for students and staff with mobility challenges.
If we are notified of construction ahead of time, we will post the
details here. If you encounter an access problem due to construction
and don't see anything about it here, please notify our Webmaster, call us at 229-6287 or
stop by the SAC office.
Enderis-Chapman Parking Lot ExcavationThe eastern one-third of the parking lot between Enderis and Chapman halls will be unavailable beginning Monday, Sept. 7, to accommodate repairs to the top of a utility tunnel. The work is expected to be finished by Oct. 14. The excavation of the tunnel, which is at least 50 years old, will be from Hartford Avenue to the southwest corner of the Klotsche Center (the vertical rectangle outlined in red in the middle of the accompanying illustration). All entrances to Enderis Hall will remain open during the construction. Temporary walkways will be placed over the excavation to facilitate pedestrian traffic. Parking spaces for drivers with disabled parking permits will be moved from the east side of the Enderis-Chapman lot to the lot between Enderis and Holton halls. The parking lot between the Norris Health Center and the heating plant that has been closed for repairs during the summer is now open. This latest excavation is part of tunnel repairs that included the Maryland Avenue sidewalk on the west side of the Hartford University School (completed) and the Hartford Avenue sidewalk west of Chapman Hall (under way). If you have specific questions or problems related to these projects please call Facility Services at x4742 or call the SAC main office at 229-6287 or email sachelp@uwm.edu.
