Welcome
to the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Student Accessibility Center Deaf/Hard of Hearing Program's web page.
Our
program has a long history of providing quality accommodation services
to UWM students who are deaf and hard of hearing. We currently serve
approximately 50 students and also provide service for the larger UWM
community. We
are
proud to be an Outreach Site for the Postsecondary
Education Programs Network (PEPNet).

Provider!
What is C-Print? And what would I do as a C-Print Speech-to-Text
Service Provider?
C-Print is a speech-to-text system utilized in the classroom to provide
students who are Deaf or hard of hearing real-time access to spoken
information. The C-Print Speech-to-Text Service Provider attends
classes and types what the instructor and students are saying on a
laptop using phonetic based abbreviations that expand to full English
words. The student who is Deaf or hard of hearing reads (as it is
happening) what the instructors and students are saying on another
laptop computer.
