HUNGER SIMULATION
Wednesday, Feb 28 from 10AM - 3PM, there will be an interactive Hunger
Simulation Maze in the Union Concourse. Students will be given a months
salary of a working family living in poverty, and they will go from station
to station paying bills. Along the way they will learn the issues faced
by these families and have to make tough choices about what not to spend
money on. At the end they will be served a bowl of hot chili. No need
to register, just show up.

EVENT ADVISING HELP
Rebecca Grassl from Union Programming is assisting the Student Activities
Office (SAO) Office by providing event advising. She will be available
for six hours per week in Union 320. Rebecca can be contacted at: hillr@uwm.edu
or (414) 229-3728.
MASCOT FOCUS GROUPS
The University is working on the development of a Victor E. Panther character
to add to our current marks. This will primarily be used for merchandise.
I have the first set of art to be evaluated, so I am looking to do some
student focus groups for input and ideas. I am looking for volunteers
to take part in the focus groups. Here are the requirements.
1) Participants must be UWM students.
2) Participants must be willing to spend about 1 hour of quality time
with me and some fellow students. I will set up times after I find out
what times are good for the willing participants.
3) Participants must be willing to give honest and open responses to
the suggested Graphics.
If you have any students that you work with either as employees or clients
who are willing to participate please contact me. I would like some dates
and times that they would be available the weeks of February 26 and March
5 for scheduling purposes.
Thanks for your help.

STUDENT ACTIVITIES COMPUTER OPERATIONS
New Website: I would like to welcome everyone back for this new semester.
As you may have noticed, we launched the new student activities website
(activities.uwm.edu), and we are still working to improve the site to
make it more user-friendly. Within the new site, we have reserved a space
for your student organization announcements and events. You can take advantage
of it to promote your events. To do so, send your requests to either cjcook@uwm.edu
or traorya@uwm.edu.
Storage: We have increased the storage space to solve all the network
storage issues and offer student organizations a network space to store
their files, pictures and folders which are backed up regularly. We strongly
advise student organizations to use the network drive for their storage
space. Student organizations need to drop off lists of their members who
have access privilege to their computers and their folders. It should
include their first and last names and their panther logins.
Printer: The printer is for student organization business use only. In
the past, it has been overused for personal work and homework. If your
organization needs to print flyers, please use the photocopier. Each student
organization will have a limited number of pages to print each week.
New Computer: If your student organization needs a new computer, fill
out the technology request form at the SAO office. Remember, you must
attend the SAC MEETING to get approve.
Our Office is committed to your technology needs and welcomes you to
stop by. Please call if you have any suggestion, concerns or questions.
