COSO Reception Today

Reminder: The Key University Staff and Student Organizations Reception is today (Wednesday, November 12) at 3:30pm, with a program at 4:00pm Union Ballroom East. You will have the opportunity to hear Interim Chancellor Bob Greenstreet and several key university administrators. The idea behind this reception is to allow student organizations to become acquainted with different parts of the university. This program will be brief as we would like to allow time for the student organizations to be able to meet these representatives in a social setting. Van Kleef Council of Student Organizations Coordinator

Blood Drive

The Student Association is hosting a blood drive to be given by the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin on Tuesday November 25th from 9am to 5pm in the Fireside Lounge (UWM Student Union). Time slots are available from 9:15
am to 5:00 pm If you want to sign up to be a hero, please respond ASAP with your name, email address and telephone number to: or stop in the Student Association Office (Union E363) or call 229-4366.

Computer Update

This update is a little late because the SOAR server went down on Halloween (and it was no treat) and could not be salvaged. A replacement server was build and SOAR was back online November 7th. No data was loss, but we are a bit behind in paperwork since nothing could be entered into databases that
week. Two student computer techs have been hired for the fall semester and have just about caught up with eliminating viruses from the Union network. Student Government is interviewing the finalist for the fulltime tech positions, and we are hoping to have the new person hired by the end of the month. Computer questions or problems should be sent to or
stop by the computer office in room 351 Union.

15 Passenger Van Rentals

UW System notified all Chancellors that there would be no insurance coverage for anyone under 25 who drives a 15 passenger van on University Business. This rule was instituted because of the safety concerns of 15 passenger vans. They are difficult to drive, have a significant roll over ratio if heavily loaded and speed is greater than 35mph. Due to the safety concerns of these vehicles, SOAR will no longer process rental requests for 15 passenger vans.
