SOAR IS CHANGING
ITS NAME
Student Organizations and Resources Office is becoming the Center for Student Involvement on July 1st. Over the past few years the SOAR had expanded
its programs and services beyond just managing student organizations
and segregated fees. The office staff are more involved in
advising Student Association and its committees, developing campus events, overseeing
the Greek System, encouraging school spirit, getting students
involved, and providing leadership training. In addition, the office manages a student computer network. Changing the name to Center for Student Involvement
will assist us in marketing our services and programs and provide an
easier and more comprehensive web presence at UWM. The name change won't change what we do, but it will better inform people of what we do.
UNION OFFICES
The Union Policy Board will provide SOAR with a list of office assignments for
the 2004-2005 year sometime tomorrow (April 29). As soon as we get it we
will post it outside of our office. If you are unhappy with your assignment,
you must submit a letter of appeal in writing (no email) to the Union
Policy Board. Appeals are due Monday May 3, 2004, to the SOAR Office prior to 4 pm. THIS IS NOT A LOT OF TIME, so please do not procrastinate.

STUDENT ORGANIZATION COMPETITION TO SUPPORT THE TROOPS
In an effort to increase morale and show support, we are collecting goods for
the United States Soldiers stationed in the Middle East. Please, show your
respect and how much you care for others called away from their comfortable homes. Let's back our brothers and sisters and tell them, "WE CARE!" For
a little inspiration, we have developed a competition between
the student organizations. Each item has been given a point value according
to cost and necessity. The student organization that acquires the most points
will win a pizza party from Papa John's. Student organizations may simply
bring their items to the Student Association office on May 4th or May 5th
by 5PM to be tallied. Competition instructions were put into student organization
mailboxes or you can pick up from the SA Office, 363 Union
building. For more information contact: Sarah Lovern, sblovern@uwm.edu
or (414) 963-1563.
