Student Association Elections

Want to form a new Political Party for Student Government Elections?
The independent election commission just dropped off the rules and procedures for the upcoming Student Association elections. In order to form a political party in time to participate in the election process, students must fill out a group registration packet, meet with the Student Activities Director by 4:00 pm March 2, 2005, and attend the Student Senate meeting on Sunday, March 6th. You can pick up a group registration packet at Union 350 or You may still participate in the elections if your group does not register in time, but you will be listed as independent with no party affiliation on the ballot.

Want to run for student office?
Nomination packages are available at the IEC Office (Union 393), Center for Student Involvement (Union 350) and Sandburg Halls. Forms will be also available at: They will be due March 15, 2005 by 4 pm.

SAC Fund for Next Year
The Senate Appropriations Committee has started to accept funding requests for Fall 2005. The Fall Semester Grant meeting will be Sunday, April 10th. Grant forms will be due by Noon March 25th in order to be considered at this meeting. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY SEMESTER GRANT MEETING FOR FALL 2005 - if you miss this meeting you will only be able to apply for emergency grants of $700 or less. If you have expenses that exceed $700, you must turn in a budget request by March 25th or you will not be eligible for funding greater than $700. Since this funding will be for a new fiscal year ALL ORGANIZATIONS applying for money must submit a 2005-2006 Grant Eligibility Form.

Student Elections
Nomination packets are available in IEC office (Union 393), CSI Office (Union 350), Sandburg lobby, online at: They are due in the CSI Office (Union 350) by March 15, 2005, before 4:00 p.m. Late packets will not be accepted. The Elections will be held on April 12 & 13, 2005 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Polling place will be located in the Union.

Show Your Panther Spirit
Cheer on the women's basketball team TONIGHT at the Klotsche Center at 7 pm for the start of the 2005 Horizon League Tournament. Come join the pep band and spirit groups cheer on our men’s basketball team A Pep Rally: Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 12:30 pm in the Union Ballroom.

The Center for Student Involvement is pleased to present its 5th Annual Achievement Awards Ceremony. Each year student organizations at UWM go above expectations and prove to be exemplary. The Center for Student Involvement wants to recognize these students and their organizations. The Awards Ceremony will be held on April 20, 2005, in the Union Ballroom East. The ceremony will honor several categories of student and organizational leadership. We would greatly appreciate you taking the time to nominate your organization(s), advisor, and/or a member of your organization for one or more of the above awards. UWM Hunger Clean Up WRC Team:, April 16th, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Join the Women's Resource Center team for UWM Hunger Clean Up day! We would like to have a team of 10-12 people to participate in the UWM Hunger Clean Up day on Saturday, April 16th from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. Our team will be assisting the Milwaukee Women’s Center in promoting the 12th Annual Walk Against Family Violence through distributing posters and brochures. If you would like to be part of our team, contact us ASAP so we can register you! The deadline to register is April 1st.

Union Offices for 2005-2006
The Union Policy Board is in the middle of their office allocation process for next year. Student Organization Hearings are on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. Organizations requesting an exclusive office, first time applicants, and organizations requesting an office change will be contacted by email concerning the room number and their hearing time; all others do not need to appear before the board. The board will deliberate and will make an initial allocation of office space on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. Announcement of initial office allocations will be Friday, March 11, 2005, and will be posted outside CSI (Union 350). Organizations unhappy with the allocation plan may appeal, in writing, to the Union Policy Board. All appeals must be submitted to CSI prior to Friday, March 18, 2005, at noon. Organizations must include reasons for appealing. Organizations who failed to turn in paperwork on time may appeal at this time also.

The appeal hearings and possible reallocation of space will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. Any changes to the allocations will be posted Friday, April 1, 2005. Secondary appeals for organizations that were affected by the March 31 allocation are due, in writing, to SAO prior to Friday, April 8, 2005, at noon. Final appeals will be heard Thursday, April 14, 2005, at 3:30 p.m. The FINAL ALLOCATIONS will be posted Friday, April 15, 2005.

The Center for Student Involvement (SAO) has no influence in the office allocation procedures. Any questions or concerns about the office allocation process should be directed to the Union Policy Board.
