STUDENT ASSOCIATION ELECTION
April 24th Campaigning begins. April 26th & 27th Elections: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Polling booths will be located in the Union, EMS and Sandburg. Election rules and information can be found at: http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/sao/Stugovt/IEC/IEC.html.

CHECK OFF ELECTION
On April 26th & 27th as part of the Student Association elections, students may designate a portion of their segregated fees to the registered student organization of their choice. Instructions and student organization codes are found at: http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/sao/Stugovt/IEC/IEC.html. This information will also be at the election booths.

STAFFING CHANGE
Nicholas Lemus, Assistant Director of Student Activities, has decided to leave UWM. His last day will be April 28th, although he will come back for the Awards Reception on May 3rd and the Zach Galifianakis Comedy event on May 9th. Individuals with program/event funding that need to process contracts now need to meet with Tom McGinnity at least 6 weeks prior to the event date. The Student Activities Oversight Committee will be meeting to develop a search process to replace Nicholas in the next few weeks.

"GAY? FINE BY ME." CAMPAIGN
Now through April 26, Shirts are $5 in the Union Atrium on Wednesdays from 11am-1pm, or in the LGBT Resource Center Student organizers will distribute hunderds of t-shirts that read "gay? fine by me." to their peers. The "gay? fine by me." t-shirt project aims to give students and staff a simple but effective way to counter homophobia. The project began at Duke University where it transformed the university into a gay-friendly campus. Since then, the t-shirt project has spread to over 100 schools, churches and communities. DAY OF SILENCE AND BREAKING THE SILENCE RALLY
Wednesday, April 26 Break the Silence Rally, 5pm Union Concourse, FREE The Day of Silence is a student-led day of action that protests the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and trangender people and their allies in schools. Students make a vow to be silent for one day to symbolize the silence caused by harassment, prejudice and discrimination. For more info, contact the LGBT Resource Center at 229-4116.

IN RECOGNITION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH UWM CAMPUS AND COMMUNITIES UNITED AGAINST VIOLENCE RESOURCE FAIR
Thursday, April 27, 10am-2pm Union Concourse, FREE Information tables staffed by UWM campus departments and local agencies who provide support services related to sexual assault and violence. Come see the mural project display, "We Use Hands To Heal Not Hands to Hurt" mural project display at the Fair.

TIMELINE FOR PROCESSING REQUESTS IN THE CENTER FOR STUDENT INVOLVEMENT

Expenditure Type: Minimum Processing Time
Credit Card Purchase: 2-3 Days + Delivery
Checks for purchases under $1500.00: 21 Days
Checks for purchases over $1500.00: 27 Days
Entertainment Contract of paid performer or speaker: 32 Days
Entertainment Contract of non-paid performer or speaker: 14 Days
Payment to Individuals for service: 27 Days
Reimbursements: 27 Days
Driver Authorization: 5-7 Days
Enterprise Car Rental Service 3-5 Days

TRAVEL FUNDING: Meet with Cheryl Locher at 350 of the Union, at least 21 days prior to departure. You will need a copy of the conference brochure and a complete list of students that will be traveling.

PROGRAM/EVENT FUNDING: Meet with Tom McGinnity at the WG85 office of the Union, at least 6 weeks prior to the event date. Any person being paid for a service, performance, or to speak, must be paid by a contract which take 32 days to process. Students contacting the CSI to arrange an event inside this deadline will be told to change their event so the contract can be processed.

OPERATION BUDGET: Meet with Cheryl Locher at least 14 days prior to expenditure.

TECHNOLOGY FUNDING: Call Tom McGinnity at (414)229-5780 to order any equipment or computer components.

REIMBURSEMENTS: If you decide to purchase items or make your own travel arrangements, please notify the CSI prior to the expense in order to verify that no mandatory contracts or vendors are required. Not following the proper purchasing procedures could result in failure of a reimbursement. SAVE ALL RECIEPTS.
