DRIVER AUTHORIZATION FOR NEXT YEAR
Risk Management will be purging student names from the authorized drivers list for students who were not enrolled in classes this past spring or have graduated. If you are traveling this summer, please check with the Center for Student Involvement a couple weeks prior to the trip to make sure your name was not removed from the list. It takes 1-2 weeks to get a person with a Wisconsin Driver’s license approved to be on the list. Out-of-State and Canadian license holders to be approved to drive on University business, are required to submit an official copy of their driving record from their State (or Provincial) Department of Motor Vehicles along with a completed UWM Driver Authorization application. Some states can require you to obtain your driving record in person others can take 2-3 months to obtain. International students (other than from Canada) are required to obtain a Wisconsin Driver’s license before traveling on state funds/business.
STUDENT ORGANIZATION FACEBOOK GROUP
A new Facebook group has been established for members, officers, advisors and other individuals interested in student organizations at UWM. The group name is "Student organizations at UWM" and can be found at this URL: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=105017875459. Please encourage new officers, members or other individuals to check out this new Facebook group.
WEB PAGES MOVED TO NEW SERVER
The server that was hosting Student Organization web accounts is being retired, so UITS needs to migrate student group account to a new supported server sometime in June. The same is happening with group email accounts. The affected groups will be contacted from UITS and given instructions on any changes in managing your web or email accounts. (if you are using PantherList for a group email, you are not affected by this change). If you experience issues after the migration, please contact the UWM Help Desk at 414-229-4040 or by using the online form at: http://GetTechHelp.uwm.edu.
CAMPUS EXPO: ORGANIZATION AND CAMPUS RESOURCE FAIR
The student organization fair will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2008, in Spaights Plaza from 10 am to 2 pm. The event will also include campus jobs, services, mentors, along with student organizations. This is a great way to promote your organization and get more members. Organizations may sign up for a booth space by sending an email to email@example.com (Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis). Open tables at 10:00 am on that day will be given to organizations on the waiting list. NOTE: Campus departments will register with the Career Development Center and they should be contacting departments later in the summer.
ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS
4th ANNUAL TOUR OF HOMES EVENT
The Neighborhood Housing Office would like to invite you and your organization to our 4th Annual Tour of Homes Event. The Tour of Homes is a program put on by the Neighborhood Housing Office to assist students in finding housing for the summer/fall semester. The Tour is an event where the Neighborhood Housing Office works with area landlords and schedules tons of open houses in the UWM rental neighborhoods. This year’s Tour of Homes dates have been set for Saturday June 20th, July 18th, and August 8th. Students will meet at the Neighborhood Housing Office (Union WG85) at 10:00am for a brief info session before touring the properties. We will provide you with a detailed list of all of the different rental units that are going to be open to view during the day. You have the option to either tour rental units on your own or to take a guided tour of rental units by a Neighborhood Housing Office staff member. Landlords will be holding open houses from 10:30am through 3:00pm.The Tour of Homes will cover all areas that are listed on the Neighborhood Housing Office website, www.neighborhoodhousing.uwm.edu. These areas include Shorewood, Upper Eastside (UWM Campus), Lower Eastside (Brady Street), Riverwest, and the downtown area.
