CSI SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
The Center for Student Involvement will remain open normal business hours through most of the summer. Please be aware of scheduled state holidays and furlough days. As always, if you wish to meet with a specific staff member, we welcome appointments. You can access information and forms 24 hours a day via the CSI website at activities.uwm.edu.
NOTE: Student Activities will be closing early on Tuesday, May 25th (5:00pm). We will also be closed on Friday, May 28th for a furlough day and for the Memorial Day Holiday on May 25th.
September 8, 2010, 10am-2pm, Spaights Plaza
The Campus Expo: Jobs, Organization & Service Fair is an informational fair where over 70 organizations and 30 campus department representatives provide students with information on campus jobs, services, mentors, and student organizations. This is a great way to promote your organization and get more members. Organizations may sign up for a booth space by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org (Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis). Open tables at 10:00 am on that day will be given to organizations on the waiting list. NOTE: Campus departments will register with the Career Development Center and they should be contacting departments later in the summer.
UNION OFFICE ASSIGNMENTS
The Union Policy Board has made its FINAL office assignments for 2010-2011 school year. The list of assignments can be found posted outside of Union 331, 363, EG79, and by the 3rd floor mailboxes. Groups that received an office should have received lease information late last week, this is due by 5:00pm on Thursday to the dropbox outside Union 331.
DON'T SPEND IT YET – Large Grant Funds Spending Timeline
If SAC approved grant funding for your group at the large grant meeting in April – STOP AND WAIT. The money is not actually approved yet. First the funding must be approved by the Student Senate and then approved by the SA president. These approvals have not yet occurred, sometimes due to the SA election and turnover – it does not happen until June. STILL WAIT – Even when the Senate and the President approves the funds, you cannot spend the money UNTIL JULY 2010. The April Large Grant meeting allocates funds for the NEXT FISCAL YEAR and will not be available until July 1, 2010. Please remember, YOU WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR ANY EXPENSE THAT OCCURS PRIOR TO JULY 1, 2010. Please tell everyone in your group that were involved in the grant request. There are no exceptions to this rule.
(Incomplete forms will not be considered submitted by the deadline)
June 10 Last day to submit a reimbursement request.
June 14 Last day to submit an order which requires a check to be cut.
June 23 Last day to submit an order which can be paid for by Visa.
June 23 Last day to submit an office supply order.
PURGE OF DRIVER AUTHORIZATIONS
Risk management is going to purge the list of authorized drivers in June. If your group is planning on any travel in the summer, you will need to resubmit driver authorization forms for the summer and fall. Please allow at least one week for processing. You can get forms from CSI in Union 363 or from: http://www4.uwm.edu/sao/form.cfm.
TRANSITION TO NEW LEADERS/OFFICERS
Training for new organization leaders/officers is available from the Center for Student Involvement, email@example.com or 229-5780. All student organizations must complete a Change of Officer form when the leaders/officers of the organization change. The form is available online at: http://www4.uwm.edu/sao/forms/downloads/2009-10%20Change%20of%20Officer.doc
New leaders are reminded that all student organizations will need to renew their registration with the University early in the fall semester. For more information on student organization policies, procedures and resources visit the Center for Student Involvement website at www.activities.uwm.edu or visit the office in Union 363.
