The Center for Student Involvement is now accepting applications for the position of Student Organization Consultants. Consultants provide training and assistant to student organizations, represent the office at various events on campus and assist students in finding involvement opportunities. Student organizations sponsoring events that generate revenue may be able to request a check, made out to the organization, from the revenues remaining after all event obligations have been met. The request must be made between the event date and 90 days after the event; if the refund request is not made during this time period, the funds will remain in the student organization Segregated University Fee account for the organizations use but will be subject to all policies and procedures that apply to all funds held in the State Treasury. In addition to event expenses, any Senate Appropriations Committee (SAC) funding that was used for the event must be re-paid. If the student organization is showing a deficit, remaining revenues will be used to pay off this deficit. Revenue remaining after all these expenses/obligations have been addressed may be available for a refund from revenue check. - After selecting your student organization from your PantherSync account, you would choose "Files" from the left side of the page.
- From your list of files you can choose the one containing your mailbox number and combination (if you mailbox is located in the Union) or your organizations specific mailing address for delivery.
Any questions about your mailbox can be directed to the Center for Student Involvement.
Student organizations with SAC Event or Major Event Grants for Spring 2011 are reminded that contracts to pay performers (speakers, DJ's, bands, panelists, etc.) and related documents must be submitted to the Center for Student Involvement no less than 30 days prior to the event date. A meeting with the Student Activities Advisor is required to ensure that the contracting process is done correctly and in a timely manner. Ideally, this contracting meeting should take place 5-6 weeks prior to the event to allow students and performers to complete the required documents and meet the submission requirement. The Center for Student Involvement will assist in marketing student organization events if the events are added to the PantherSync calendar with a request to publish the event to the public (all calendars in the system). The text and details of the event can also be included in the Center for Student Involvement ads in the UWM Post. Submissions must be made at least two weeks prior to the event date. To create an event in PantherSync, visit your organization portal and click on the "events" menu button on the left side of the page. Officers of the organization will have access to the "events" tool.
The annual student organization award nomination forms are now available! Nominations are due no later than Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 3:00pm (first week after spring break!). Categories include: Advisor of the Year, Outstanding Leadership Award, Outstanding Program of the Year, Outstanding Student Organization Award, Outstanding Volunteer Award, and Student Organization Service Award. A limited amount of Pepsi products are available for student organization events. The events must be focused on UWM students and the products may not be charged for or resold. To initiate a request for Pepsi products for your student organization event, please send an email with you name, name of your organization and a brief description of your event to firstname.lastname@example.org. An application for the Pepsi product will be sent to you.
The 2011 American Multicultural Student Leadership Conference (AMSLC) will be held on April 1-3, 2011 at UW-Platteville. This conference offers an awesome opportunity for you to present (in creative writing, visual arts, performance, and/or research categories), network with participants from other UW System campuses, and attend outstanding leadership workshops and keynotes. It will be an incredible experience for you!
The conference is FREE for you, except for a $20 deposit, which will be returned to you at the conference. Because space is limited, priority will be given to students who submit an entry for presentation at the conference. For your submission, please know that you can select an art work, poetry/prose/essay, or a research paper that was completed in one of your classes. Those students who have attended AMSLC in the past must submit an abstract/entry and present at this year's conference.

Students who attend this conference will have opportunities to participate in leadership roles in various programs and events on campus. These opportunities will be great additions to your resume!
LEARN ABOUT THE PEACE CORPS – MARCH 3RD
On Thursday, March 3 the Peace Corps will be hosting an informational session about how to apply, what the work that volunteers do, and what to expect if you are considering applying to the Peace Corps. The info session will be help in Curtain Hall 175 at 6pm.
SIGN UP TODAY FOR THE HUNGER CLEAN UP – APRIL 16TH
Sign up to volunteer at the Hunger Clean Up on Saturday, April 16 from 9:00am – 1:00pm (free lunch from noon-1:00). Some of the volunteer projects include neighborhood clean ups, planting at a community garden, interior panting at local shelters, helping local elderly residents around their homes and collecting hard good items for a shelter. You can sign up with a group or as an individual.
