Eric Jessup-Anger

Eric Jessup-Anger

Dr. Eric Jessup-Anger is the Interim Associate Director of the UWM Union for Student Involvement. He grew up in western Wisconsin and returned home 5 years ago after spending 15 years exploring the rest of the country. Eric arrived at UWM in 2009 after spending time working on college campuses in Ohio, Massachusetts, Colorado and Michigan in student life/leadership, housing, student conduct, orientation, and academic affairs. In addition to working in Student Involvement he teaches courses on the history of U US higher education and leadership. Away from work, he spends a lot of time with his wife Jody and two young daughters exploring Milwaukee and Wisconsin. He particularly digs traveling, road trips, college sports, time with family and friends, hikes and time near the water, pop culture, and is working to make the world a little better of a place.

Tom Dake

Tom Dake

Orignially from Michigan, Tom has nearly 20 years of experience working with college students. He has a master's degree in college student personnel (CSP) from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and has worked for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and most recently the University of California, Riverside. Tom was also employed at UWM from 1990 to 1996 in a variety of roles including advising student organizations, planning and implementing new student orientation and serving as the first liaison for lesbian, gay and bisexual student concerns. Tom is a sci fi buff and fan of the 1980's animated series Thundercats.

Jennifer Wentzell

Jennifer Wentzell

Jennifer Wentzell servers as the office manager at Student Involvement. She has been with UWM for over 9 years, spending 7 years in the School of Education and 2 years in the School of Social Welfare before joining Student Involvement.

She holds a bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences/psychology and Spanish from Mount Mary College and has a great passion for adventure and travel. She has studied abroad in Peru and traveled to many other destinations including Mexico, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and the Virgin Islands to name a few. She dreams of living abroad someday.

In her free time, Jennifer enjoys hiking, reading travel magazines, trying new ethnic foods, and most importantly spending quality time with her family and friends.

Kirsten Leih

Kirstin DeMartino

Kirstin DeMartino serves as an assistant director at Student Involvement. Joined the UWM staff in 2011, Kirstin is excited to assist students as they connect to the many involvement opportunities on campus.

Kirstin is originally from Waukesha, WI, although she has also called Iowa home. She has a Bachelor degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters in higher education from Iowa State University. Because she just can't get enough of the classroom, she is currently working on her PhD in higher education through Saint Louis University.

In her free time, Kirstin enjoys reading, baking, finding new restaurants, spending time with family, and attending Badger football games.

Yang Poawit

Poawit Yang

Poawit Yang is an established actor/musician/model, with roots in Milwaukee and Northeast Wisconsin. Discovered in the Milwaukee fashion scene, Poawit got his breaks as a model for notable fashion designer Ralph Lauren. With film credits too numerous to list and handful of successful musical collaborations, Poawit seems poised on the brink of super-stardom.

In his spare time, Poawit serves as the business manager for Student Involvement, where he brings a passion for learning and education along with over 7 years of progressive experience at UWM. His work prior to UWM is almost as long as his film credits and include: banking/mortgage industry, retirement planning, tax (individual and corporate), and an ongoing stint as a small business owner.

Rick Clark

Rick Clark

Rick Clark has been employed at UW-Milwaukee since October, 2011 as one of the Assistant Directors for Student Involvement, where he assist the Recreational, Social Action, Service, Political, and Cultural groups with their program planning. He is also the advisor for the Campus Activities Board, the university’s major run student programming group.

Rick was born in the south, but was raised and worked professionally in the Midwest (Chicago area) and also spent three years in California with the year round sun and warmth (Midwest winters are hard to deal with). He’s been employed in the student affairs field for thirty plus years and enjoy assisting students with skill development and programming.

For pleasure, Rick enjoys bike riding and cheering on the Bulls, White Sox and Bears.

Alyssa Zasada

Alyssa Zasada

Alyssa is one of the student employees in the Student Involvement office. She hails from Platteville, Wisconsin, home of the world’s largest M. She is in her senior year at UWM studying Political Science and Sociology with a minor in Global Studies, and after graduation she plans to earn a Master’s degree Student Affairs. In her free time Alyssa enjoys rocking out on her ukulele, volunteering at the Milwaukee County Historical Society, and scavenging GoodWill for finds. In the fall of 2013 she explored the United Kingdom while studying abroad in Canterbury, England. She is an avid cat lover, so feel more than welcome to send cute cat pictures her way.

Becca Grassl

Becca Grassl

Dr. Rebecca (Becca) Grassl is an assistant director for the Student Union with Student Involvement. She has been with the UWM Student Union since January 2005 and started as a program manager for the Rec Center and Adventure Center (now Outdoor Pursuits).

Becca can declare degrees from three of Milwaukee's colleges and universities. She has her undergraduate degree in engineering from MSOE, master of education from Marquette, and a PhD in urban education from UWM. When not at work you can find Becca hanging out with her husband and daughter, on her latest travel adventure, or on a run along the lakefront.

Becky Yoshikane

Becky Yoshikane

Becky Yoshikane is one of the student employees at the Student Involvement office. Becky’s major is Interdisciplinary Arts and Technology, commonly known as Arts-Tech, with a junior standing.

Becky was born in the Chicago land area but grew up in the great Northwoods on the Chequamegon Bay (Lake Superior) before moving to Milwaukee for school. Living off the coast of a Great Lake had a huge influence in her life and her hobbies. She loves to go on adventures outside, kayaking, canoeing, climbing trees or cliffs, and swimming. Becky also enjoys concerts, mystery books, sci-fi tv shows, traveling, drawing, and dancing to music in the rain.

Claudia Guzmán

Claudia Guzmán

As Sociocultural Program Manager for Student Involvement since Fall 2011, Claudia E. Guzmán leads the development of a collaborative, creative and impactful calendar of events that provide meaningful opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community to explore, understand and appreciate diverse identities, social justice and urban issues. She also served UWM previously as Outreach Specialist for the Roberto Hernandez Center from 2006-2008.

Claudia was born and raised in Milwaukee, and is passionate about community engagement. She has been active in the local nonprofit sector, whether as an employee, volunteer or board director, since returning from Wellesley College in 2002, where she graduated magna cum laude with a dual degree in English and Spanish. She also holds a Masters degree in Communication from Marquette University, with a focus on Advertising, Public Relations and Journalism, along with a certificate in Digital Storytelling.

Her favorite college and grad school memories resulted from her experiences as a member of Mezcla, the Latina student organization, and Study Abroad programs in Mexico, Costa Rica and Italy.

Claudia loves reading and writing, movies, hiking, yoga, arts and crafts, trivia, and above all, family. In her free time, she can be found exploring Milwaukee -- some of her favorite events include MAM After Dark, Doors Open Milwaukee and any free, outdoor summer concert.

Linda Corbin-Pardee

Linda Corbin-Pardee

Linda Corbin-Pardee is a Program Manager in Student Involvement, with a particular focus on arts and environmental programming. She works with the student staff in the Union Art Gallery, Union Theatre and Studio Arts and Craft Centre as they develop exhibitions, film programs, art classes and other arts and cultural events. In addition, Linda works with students on SA’s Environmental Sustainability Committee, along with environmentally-focused student organizations and UWM’s Office of Sustainability, to present a wide range of programs with an environmental focus during the school year.

Linda is a Wisconsin native and a UWM alumnus, with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Art History. Prior to coming to UWM ten years ago, she worked as Executive Director of Walker’s Point Center for the Arts and as art history faculty at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Linda and her husband met doing music together and still periodically perform in folk venues around town. They have recently taken up camping together. And they have two wonderful children in college in Wisconsin.

Ellie Crean

Ellie Crean

Ellie Crean works in the Center for Student Involvement as a Graduate Assistant in the Coaching, Organization Development, and Engagement program. She is currently pursuing a masters degree in College Student Personnel Administration, and intends to continue working with student organizations and other student leaders after graduation.

Ellie is originally from Madison, Wisconsin but has moved to Milwaukee from Appleton, Wi. Ellie spent seven years in Appleton, at Lawrence University, obtaining a bachelors degree in Art History and working as a Residence Hall Director for three years post-graduation. When not working or studying Ellie enjoys spending time with her two chinchillas, indulging in marathons of her favorite shows, and working on craft projects of all sorts.

Gabriel Rono

Gabriel Rono

Gabriel is a student employee in the Center for Student Involvement as a Business Assistant. He is an undergraduate student studying finance in the Lubar School of Business. Gabriel is originally from Nairobi, Kenya and moved to Milwaukee, WI in 2002.

During his free time, Gabriel plays video games, sports, hangs out with friends and likes to eat a lot of good food. He also likes to attend the Bucks and Brewers games! GO PANTHERS

Hideaki Noguchi

Hideaki Noguchi

Hideaki Noguchi is a graduate assistant for Student Involvement and Development and pursuing an MS in Higher Education Administration. He was born and raised in Chicago, became a Penguins fan while living in Pittsburgh, and is now elated to be in the Cream City! His work prior to Milwaukee includes TV captioning, student advising, and teaching. At his leisure, Hideaki reads, writes, plays music, and enjoys a good pizza.

James Wilbur

James Wilbur

James is a non-traditional student and pursuing a major in social work. He was born and raised in the New England area but has called Milwaukee home for six years now. It is such a beautiful state, he says, and it does not hurt to live in the state of the best NFL team! James enjoys his work in Student Involvement as it gives him the opportunity to help promote campus life and student organizations. In his spare time, he enjoys anything outdoors, sports, and hanging out with friends and family.

Justin Raibolt

Justin Raibolt

Justin Raibolt is an first year graduate assistant working in Student Involvement with the Coaching, Organization Development, and Engagement (CODE) program. An alumnus of UWM’s Helen Bader School of Social Welfare, Justin is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Marquette University in the College Student Personnel Administration program. Having had a great experience working in student services as an undergrad, Justin hopes to pursue a career in the same area.

Justin is from the Milwaukee area and is an ardent fan of the city. He is an active member of the local Swing Dance and Blues Dance scenes in the city as a teacher, organizer, and DJ. Justin also enjoys photography, the occasional bike ride, good food, and better conversation.

Kim Mueller

Kim Mueller

New to UWM in 2013, Kim serves as a program coordinator and is ready to sponsor an activity or event with your student org! Her favorite student org program on campus: Geek Week.

Kim has a bachelor's degree in art history and English from UW-Madison, and a master's degree in higher education from Marquette University. Prior to working at UWM, Kim also served as a high school teacher in Mississippi through Teach For America, and has studied abroad in Italy and Venezuela.

When Kim is not at UWM, her favorite activities include travel and spending time with her dog Winston (who successfully completed his first agility course this summer!)

Laura Mintel

Laura Mintel

Laura Mintel is a graduate program assistant working on student programming within the department of Student Involvement. She is pursuing her masters in Student Affairs Higher Education at Marquette University. Laura is originally from the east coast and received her B.A. in Psychology and Theology from Boston College. She hopes to help students realize and take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities the college experience brings.

In her free time Laura enjoys exploring her new city, eating out, reading, visiting the zoo, playing wiffle ball, music, traveling and attending sporting events. She is excited to make the Brewers her National League team! Laura also believes that laughter is the best medicine and is always happy to hear a good (or horribly bad) pun.

Megan Smith

Megan Smith

Megan Smith is a graduate assistant in the Center for Student Involvement who works specifically with the CODE Program. A 2013 alumni of Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, Megan is loving being back in her hometown of Milwaukee! During her undergraduate years, Megan majored in Public Relations and Sociology, while serving as a Resident Advisor, Peer Assistant, Dance Marathon Morale Captain and more. Being involved was what made her college experience the best four years of her life! Upon graduating with her Masters in Higher Ed Student Affairs in May, Megan hopes to get a job working in Residence Life. In her free time, she loves spending time with family & friends, reading, enjoying some Netflix, and baking!

Grace Buckingham

Grace Buckingham

Grace is a student employee in the Student Involvement office. She is a Finance and Information Technology Management double major, with a certificate in International Business. She is the treasurer for Women in Business, the Volunteer Chair for the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, on the UWM sailing team, plays on an intramural volleyball team, a member of the American Marketing Association, a mentee in the Multicultural Mentor Program through Lubar, and attends CRU weekly. Besides working in this office, Grace is a lifeguard at the Klotsche, a sales associate at Express, and a Peer Mentor for the Student Success Center.

If Grace could be any famous figure and why, it’d definitely be Tony Stark from Ironman- he’s rich, a genius, a philanthropist, has a sarcastic/witty sense of humor, like Grace, and he invented Ironman! Also, some of Grace’s hidden talents include being able to do the splits, drive a stick shift, and can fall asleep pretty much anywhere; she has a mild form of narcolepsy.

Keji Kujjo

Keji Kujjo

Keji is one of the student employees in the Student Involvement office. She was born and raised in Sudan, North Africa. She’s a graduating senior majoring in Community Engagement & Education and International Studies. In her free time she likes to volunteer, crochet, and sew. She also likes watching documentaries and experimenting with cooking. She’s planning on getting a master’s in Administrative Leadership and after earning a PhD in International Education Development, Keji plans on revisiting her homeland to build an all-girl school.

Megan DuFrane

Megan DuFrane

Megan DuFrane is a graduate student working for UWM Programming as the Sociocultural Programming graduate assistant. She is pursuing her masters in Cultural Foundations of Education here at UWM. Megan is excited to work in and learn more about program management at UWM. After graduation, she hopes to work within educational program management & the development of community based organizations to benefit opportunities and academics for students in marginalized situations who have limited access to continue their education post-high school graduation.

Megan is originally from Menasha, WI. She graduated with a B. A. in Educational Studies from Edgewood College in Madison. Megan has enjoyed working with individuals who have disabilities in multiple settings, being an AmeriCorps member for two school-year terms, and an AmeriCorps student program assistant at Edgewood while she was studying in undergrad. She enjoys spending time with family & friends, traveling, swimming, biking, playing piano, volunteering, the city of Madison, and exploring the (new to her) city of Milwaukee!
