Presentation by Karla Sierralta from Strawn, Sierralta, Chicago
Karla Sierralta is principal in Strawn. Sierralta, a young architecture and design studio based in Chicago, Illinois. Strawn.Sierralta received international recognition as finalists in the World Trade Center Memorial Competition. In 2007, they were identified by Architectural Record as among “a handful of extraordinary young Chicago designers who are forging ahead in directions that a young architect may not have thought possible even a generation ago.” Her firm is deeply committed to investigating the specific qualities of each project - its natural, cultural, social and political environments, with a goal to finding fresh solutions that are simple, bold, innovative and unexpected. Karla Sierralta was born and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She received her bachelor of architecture from the University of Zulia (LUZ), and her Master’s degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago, where she studied as a Fulbright Scholar.
