Lawrence Witzling, Professor

Bio
Lawrence P. Witzling, formerly President of Planning and Design Institute, is now Principal at GRAEF, a national engineering and planning firm headquartered in Milwaukee. He has over 30 years of experience in urban design and planning. He holds a doctorate in city and regional planning from Cornell University and a professional architecture degree from Cooper Union. He is a registered architect and landscape architect. His firm‟s work in urban design and planning has won more Wisconsin planning awards than any other group. In addition he has won six national awards for urban design. His projects range from large comprehensive plans to small urban places, including district and neighborhood plans, mixed-use development, pattern books, form-based codes, and parks. He also has managed numerous national design competitions in over ten states, ranging from memorials to large scale urban developments. At SARUP he served as Associate Dean for 15 years and Director of the Johnson Control Institute for 5 years. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and webinars.
