Online Architectural Studies Minor

We are extending our architectural offerings via the array of online courses towards a Minor in Architectural Studies offered at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning. The minor in architecture would complement majors in the Arts, Visual Art, Civil Engineering, Conservation and Environmental Science, Construction, Engineering Tech, Environmental Engineering, Graphic Design, Communication, Industrial design, Interior Design/Architecture, Land Use Planning, Landscape Architecture, Theatre Design, or Urban Planning Studies, enriching the scope of these undergraduate majors and broadening marketability. We encourage minor candidates in the University Wisconsin system 26 colleges and universities, architecture minor candidates nationally, continuing education for professionals and professionals in non-architecture related fields, and AP High School students. The Department of Architecture is reaching out to design students, and other professionals in a wide geographic area in a rigorous academic program of discussions, readings and activities with the same standards for participation and learning as face-to-face courses. The courses are broken into modules of case studies, self-assessments, film critiques and design projects submitted on-line. Comprehensive group projects or final examinations are also used to assess student learning. The "Course Lounge" discussion board allows for students to communicate with each other any time day or night.
