SARUP donors make a difference

SARUP donors provide the School with the financial resources critical to maintaining and enhancing a standard of excellence. These gifts assist in attracting and retaining the highest caliber students through scholarships and awards, as well as providing funding integral to the development and implementation of unique programs and special projects.

We thank all individuals, businesses, associations and foundations for their unfailing support of the UWM School of Architecture and Urban Planning. (Please note: Gifts made to support the School, its activities and students are tax deductible as allowed by law.) Gift Opportunities

Scholarships & Prizes
Scholarships are key to attracting and retaining students to SARUP degree programs. In addition, donor support provides funds for an annual Student Design Competition, as well as a Chair Design Competition (sponsored by: Nemschoff)

Donors may give direct support to an existing program (e.g., Historic Preservation, Institute for Ecological Design, Real Estate Development) or can opt to discuss new programs with the Dean and Development Director. Gifts made in support of these programs help to provide for travel, speakers, technology, conferences, competition participation, etc.

SARUP studio sponsorships are developed through a partnership between donors and faculty to ensure that the studio focus and content coordinates with degree programs and student interests as well as providing donor benefits. Donors are encouraged to be actively engaged in the studio through presentations, tours and/or participation on juries.

Planned Gifts
A planned gift is an investment through a future commitment of support. Vehicles for planned gifts include bequests, life insurance gifts and charitable gift annuities. Planned gifts can support programs, scholarships and/or schools per the donor’s request, as well as inspire others to consider making similar arrangements. There is no set minimum amount for establishing a planned gift.

Unrestricted gifts designations are greatly appreciated as they provide for unforeseen opportunities or challenges that the school may encounter. The Dean uses the highest discretion to make certain that gifts are put to use in accordance with donor intentions.
