PHR/SPHR Certification Preparation

 

Develop business management strategies, a strong understanding of risk management, and analyze compensation and benefits, as you acquire the skills to complete your PHR/SPHR certification.

Participants who do not pass the exam may sit through the class again at no cost. Note: This only applies to the semester directly following the original enrollment.

Course Completion Requirements:

  • Attend at least 75% of the classes – cannot miss more than two sessions
  • Take all tests and exams
  • Complete all of class assignments
  • Score 80% or better on the paper and pencil exam

Certification Details:

  • Recertification is every three years
  • Format of exam: Computer-based, 175 multiple choice questions, three hours to complete
  • Pass Rate: National average for PHR is 58%, for SPHR, 48% – UWM's pass rate is above the national average
  • Exam Proctor: Thomson Prometric, 19435 W Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI
  • Exam Registration Dates: www.hrci.org
    PHR Price $400, SHRM Member $350
    SPHR Price $525, SHRM Member $475
    Late application fee of $75
  • Eligibility Guidelines:

PHR
1 year exempt level HR experience with a master's degree
2 years exempt level HR experience with a bachelor's degree
4 years exempt level HR experience with less than a bachelor's degree

SPHR
4 years exempt level HR experience with a master's degree or higher
5 years exempt level HR experience with a bachelor's degree
7 years exempt level HR experience with less than a bachelor's degree
