EMDR Basic Training Part II

 

The EMDR Basic Training, comprised of two parts, is designed for licensed mental health practitioners who treat clients in a clinical setting. EMDR is a complex approach to psychotherapy that accelerates the treatment of a wide range of pathologies and self-esteem issues related to past traumatic events and present life conditions. Part II focuses on using EMDR with dissociative, child and adolescent, and complex trauma clients. EMDRI approved curriculum and instructor.

Prerequisites: EMDR Basic Training

Part 1 must be completed at least three months prior.

Eye Movement and Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a complex approach to psychotherapy that accelerates many treatments of past traumatic and present life events. EMDR has been tested with patients who survived a range of events including sexual assault or molestation, combat service, a crime, accident, violence or disaster.

Training is offered in two workshops. EMDR Part 1 must be completed at least three months before Part 2 is taken to allow for sufficient practice with the technique.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
10 hours of didactic plus 10 hours of supervised practice

- Implement strategies to identify and resolve problem areas in the use of EMDR
- Describe protocols for closing incomplete sessions
- Utilize and apply resources with resistant clients
- Apply expanded preparation and resource strategies with clients
- Implement treatment planning to choose and prioritize appropriate EMDR targets
- Describe strategies for dealing with highly emotional responses
- Apply strategies for dealing with dissociative symptoms and phobias
- Implement strategies to effectively treat complex trauma-related disorders
