Creating a Trauma-Sensitive School 3: Individual Strategies
This session increases your knowledge of child development under traumatic circumstances as well as reviews and explores assessment instruments and diagnoses of traumatic impacts for children.
You will learn to:
Increase teacher understanding of the impact of trauma on child development and learning
Introduce strategies to address behavior and learning issues related to the intrusive, avoidant and hyperarousal response of traumatized children
Review assessment instruments to assist in determining the impact of trauma on the child
Explore new diagnoses under field trial for DSM-V such as Developmental Trauma Disorder and PTSD in Infants and Pre-School Children relative to special educational needs
