| Week 1 will be a discussion of Polish immigration and settlement in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. We will also cover notable people of Polish heritage from Milwaukee as well as physical examples of their presence, including the Kosciuszko Monument, St. Josaphat Basilica and the Polish Center. Week 2 will be on the Polish presence in the U.S. and their contributions to our country. Week 3 will be on Poland's significance in the world; particularly John Paul II, Solidarity, and Poland in NATO and EU. Presenter: Don Pienkos, Professor Emeritus of Political Science is a Chicago native and received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1971. He taught at UWM from 1969 on comparative politics and international relations with a focus on Poland, Russia and Europe. He earned the Officer's Cross of Merit from the President of Poland in 2010.
