| Discuss a variety of characteristics of the oceans including the structure of the seafloor, sediments on the seafloor, waves, tides, currents, dynamics of the beach environment, variations in the temperature and salinity, and the propagation of sound energy in the water. Though this course is a continuation of "Introduction to the World's Oceans", enrollment in the previous course is not required. Presenter: Prof. Keith A. Sverdrup joined the faculty in the UWM Department of Geosciences in 1983. He received his B.S. in Geophysics from the University of Minnesota and his Ph.D. in Earth Science (seismology) from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography at the University of California-San Diego. He is principal author of two oceanography textbooks that are used at colleges and universities across the country and internationally.
