This is an introductory course for school age workers who are new to the field of school age (ages 5-12 years) and after-school care. Enable participants to begin working effectively with youth ages 5 to 12. to receive Registry certificate, all course assignments must be completed within the course time line. Course is a DCF Approved school-age only equivalent to introduction to the Child Care Profession. Course offered in partnership with UWM Center for Early Childhood and Professional Development.
Learning Outcomes
Apply knowledge of growth and development to leading and guiding a school-age group that meets the multiple needs of children and youth.
Understand the importance of relationships and communication in the practice of quality school-age and after-school activities.
Implement guidance techniques and strategies to support children and youth individually and in group experiences.
