Third Annual SCE Photography Contest!

 

The UWM School of Continuing Education Photography Program presents:

The Third Annual Photography Contest!  - REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

New! - This year we are opening our contest to the community. Participants may enter up to 5 photos.*

Photos will be judged in the following categories:

  • Animals
  • Portrait
  • Nature
  • Buildings/Architecture

Registration Entry Fee*
Registration fee = $12 - includes 2 photos from any category
Additional Photos (up to 3) = $4 each

Registration & Submission Instructions

  1. Register online by April 26 (select the number of entries you'd like at the bottom of this page)
  2. Mail photos according to matting guidelines to:
    161 W. Wisconsin Ave., Suite 6000,
    Milwaukee, WI 53203
  3. All photo submissions must be received by April 30

Award Reception & Opening Display NightWednesday, May 15, 2013, 6-7:30pm.

  • Featuring guest speaker Gary Porter, Pulitzer Prize-Winning Photographer! 

Photos will be on display from May 15 through May 30. 

Note: You will be billed according to the number of entries. Please include that amount on the registration form. Thank you!

 

**Contest Agreements**

By entering, you as a contestant agree that the School of Continuing Education may display your photos.

Contestants retain the copyright to their entries. However, as a condition of participation, entrants agree that the UWM School of Continuing Education may reproduce their images in any media, without limitation and without compensation to the entrant.

Submitting an entry signifies that you have read and agreed to all terms of the contest (listed below, under "More").

Eligibility - Who Can Enter?

  • Open to any amateur photographer who does not make more than 25% of their income from photography

Category Stipulations

  • Each area must have 15 photos in order to be judged as its own category
  • In the case a category fails to reach the minimum entry requirement, categories will be combined accordingly: Animals/Portrait & Nature/Buildings/Architecture

Submission Guidelines

  • Photos must be matted in order to be judged
  • Entries must include NameAddress, City, State, Zip Code, Phone Number, Category and Title on the back of the mat
  • Please also indicate which side of the photo should face up for posting purposes
  • Photos without registration entries will not be judged
  • Minimum entry - 2 photos; Maximum entry - 5 photos
  • Photos may be in black & white or color

Matting & Format Requirements

  • Photo dimensions - 5"x7"
  • Outside dimensions (after matting) - 9"x12" (max)
  • Use standard window mat format (one back board & one front board)

Alterations & Editing Allowed

  • Red-eye removal
  • Adjustments to sharpness and contrast
  • Cropping

Prizes

  • One FREE photography class will be issued for each category judged
  • People's Choice Award - Community members can vote for photos. The winner of this award will be featured on the SCE Facebook page.

Returning Photos

  • Photos will be available for pickup after June 1 at the 7th floor desk. Photos must be picked up by June 10.
  • Participants may also include a self-addressed and stamped envelope with their entries and SCE will return them by mail.


SCE is not responsible for lost, damaged, late or misdirected photographs.
