Passenger Assistance and Sensitivity Skills Workshop

The Passenger Assistance Trainer's Network consists of eight transportation professionals from Wisconsin who are available to provide needs-based, on-site passenger assistance training to your Wisconsin-based agency.

Specific topics covered in the Passenger Assistance and Sensitivity Skills Training include: disability sensitivity, wheelchair handling, vehicle lift operation, wheelchair securement and passenger restraint.

To arrange a Passenger Assistance training at your agency, please call Ken Woodall at 888-560-3382 or 414-227-3332.

More

The Network is coordinated and administered by CTED. All eight trainers have taken a three-day Passenger Assistance: Train the Transit Trainer workshop at UWM, and receive updated training and materials from UWM on a regular basis.

The Network coordinator works with you to determine your specific training needs. Based on this assessment, instructors are assigned to the session and a curriculum is tailored to your needs.

This workshop is largely funded by the Wisconsin Rural Transportation Assistance Program. The driver's portion of the cost is $25. The fee covers instruction and materials. The course is already largely subsidized by RTAP, however, 80 percent of the cost to host or to attend the workshop can be reimbursed by the RTAP scholarship fund.

For more information, please call Ken Woodall at the Wisconsin Transit Resource Center at 414-227-3332 or toll free at 888-560-3382.
