Media Relations

 
Understand the mass media and learn specific skills to work with reporters. Find out how the media approaches a news story. Plan a proactive media relations program and understand how different media formats can affect external communication efforts.
  By the end of this class, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the media's needs and constraints
  • Analyze an agency challenge and then develop an optimal media plan
  • Write a press release
  • Be interviewed

This workshop will assist participants in understanding the unique nature of the mass media and to provide them with the skills and abilities to deal with reporters. Find out how the media approach a news story and how your can make the most of interactions with reporters. Learn how to plan a proactive media relations program for your agency and understand how different media formats, whether newspaper, radio or TV, can affect external communication efforts.
