Mission: The Center for Early Childhood Professional Development & Leadership aims to improve early childhood programs through professional training, certificates, credentials and degree pathways for administrators, educators and providers.

We offer credit and noncredit opportunities for professional development including:

  • Courses, certificates and credentials for child care professionals
  • Degree pathways for child care administrators and educators
  • Trainings, institutes and courses for school-age/after-school professionals
  • Workshops and conferences relevant to field-wide initiatives and state requirements

More

The Center for Early Childhood Professional Development & Leadership provides several growth opportunities for early childhood administrators, educators and other professionals in the field.

Most classes are eligible for three undergraduate credits and some for graduate credits. Earn certificates in Child Care Administration, Child Care Program Development, and Early Childhood Leadership. Those that qualify can also earn the Administrator Credential, Program Development Credential, and Leadership Credential along with their certificates. The credentials are awarded by the WI Registry.

The Center staff has teamed up with the UWM Department of Educational Policy and Community Studies as well as the Department of Administrative Leadership to offer online degree completion pathways for a bachelor's degree in Community Education with a submajor in Child Care, and master's degrees in Administrative Leadership and Cultural Foundations in Education.

UWM accepts scholarships from the T.E.A.C.H. funding program available through WECA.
