Eriks Johnson is an artist and teacher. He describes the most recent shift in his work as going from "trying to include everything I could do in a work" to "limiting some of the variables". "I've always been attracted to the immediacy of process and the response to lived experience, currently I usually work abstractly but I have a long history of working from direct observation as well". He received his BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and his MFA from UW Milwaukee." I tried to learn as much as I could about painting and drawing so that later I could choose what I wanted to keep and what I would discard in my own work." Mr. Johnson has taught at UWM, MIAD, Sharon Lynne Wilson Center, the Museum of Wisconsin Art, and worked with Artists Working in Education. He also works privately as a tutor.
