  Jean Creighton

Jean Creighton studied in the Physics Department at the University of Athens and graduated in 1991. Her honors thesis was on the planet Neptune. Researching and writing about this great planet caused her to realize that she really wanted more astronomy in her life; so much so that she was willing to cross the Atlantic to get a master’s degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She also attended the University of Waterloo, graduating with a Ph.D. in astrophysics in 1998. Creighton has been teaching astronomy at various levels at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee since then, and in 2007 she became the director of the UWM Manfred Olson Planetarium.
