  Tom Strini  

“The Origins of the American Songbook”  Survey American popular music from Stephen Foster to minstrelsy, George M. Cohan, and the earliest days of the Jazz Age to Irving Berlin. Tom Strini was music and dance critic at the Milwaukee Journal and Journal Sentinel for 27 years. Since August of 2009, he has been senior editor of ThirdCoastDaily.com, an online culture magazine. Strini also teaches "American Songbook 1920-1960" at the UWM Honors College, and "Seeing Hearing Writing."
