  John Roach  

“The Aurora Borealis: A Layman's Introduction to the Imagery and Science of the Northern Lights” Retiree John Roach shares his experience photographing the northern lights in Alaska. Explore the research he conducted on how to photograph them, how to understand them and how they are predicted to occur. See his images, hear stories from the trip, and be inspired by his enthusiasm and passion. Roach has embraced photography and travel as his retirement passion. With degrees in engineering and business, he was formerly a hospital director of facilities in the Chicago area. Recently, he has become certified as a professional photographer. Roach shares his work and knowledge through his website, blog and occasional articles, and he is an active participant in organizations such as the Nikonians.org, Photographic Society of America, Coalition of Photography Art and the Urban Ecology Center Photo Club.
