  Barbara M. Farmerie

Barb Farmerie was born in Pittsburgh, PA, but has been a resident of Milwaukee for more than 20 years. Much of that time was spent working for MillerCoors, where she was an IT development manager delivering business application projects throughout all functional areas of the organization, including Human Resources, Finance, International Sales & Delivery, Marketing, and Plant Operations. During this time, she also acquired her MBA from Marquette University.

Subsequently, Barb was a project officer with Keane Consulting, an information technology consulting firm. As a project officer, she was responsible for coaching, mentoring and training project managers as well as facilitating project startups and conducting quality assurance audits for various clients. She implemented still-active project management offices at major area firms. She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) from the Project Management Institute (PMI®).

She is currently Executive Director of LakeView Consulting, LLC, specializing in helping organizations implement project management best practices and deliver successful projects. After teaming with the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, School of Continuing Education to initiate the Project Management Certificate Program, Barb continues as an ad hoc instructor. She teaches several courses in the Project Management Certificate and advanced certificate, both in-class and online.

Barb’s diverse clients are the basis of her breadth and depth of knowledge and experience. Deliverables for those clients include:

  • Research & development process improvement and integration
  • New product development methodology time line reduction and stage gate reviews
  • Project portfolio development aligned to strategic goals

Barb has served various positions on the board of directors for the PMI-Milwaukee/Southeast WI chapter, including president, vice president and treasurer. She has also served on the strategic planning committee, and as the VP-Volunteerism. During her role as the chapter’s PMP exam prep study group organizer, she started more than 50 study groups throughout local companies to aid others in obtaining their PMP certifications. She was the first person to receive the 10-year volunteer award from the PMI-Milwaukee chapter.

Her favorite sports are kayaking, water skiing, and hiking or cross-country skiing, depending on the conditions outside. She starts each day with some quality yoga time.
