  John G. Sommer

John, a registered professional engineer in Ohio, with an M. S. in polymer chemistry, progressively gained wide experience by working with many materials, processes and products over a 50-year career in the elastomers industry - mainly with GenCorp. His activities resulted in 45 technical publications and 16 U.S.Patents, one of which became the technology base for a new company.

John has made more than 100 presentations on molding at universities and technical societies, and for manufacturers of elastomers, elastomer products and molds. His experience includes presentations at UWM on molding for 14 consecutive years, in addition to teaching mold design as a credit course in the Department of Polymer Engineering at the University of Akron.

In 2003, he consolidated and published his experience in a 471-page book, "Elastomer Molding Technology," a comprehensive and unified treatment of materials, methods and mold design for elastomers.
