Revise, Refresh and Revitalize!
If you’re sending out the same resume over and over yet not getting any response, your resume needs help. Start tracking your professional accomplishments and build them into your resume. Can’t think of anything? Ask colleagues, read your latest performance review. When opportunity knocks, you need to be ready to respond quickly. But updating your resume at the last minute leaves more room for error. Take the time to revise it now. Don’t ruin your chance to impress a potential employer because your resume isn’t accurate and current.
Expect potential employers to search for you on social media sites such as LinkedIn. In fact, currently 73 of the Fortune 100 companies use LinkedIn Hiring Solutions. Be sure your profile clearly communicates your value! Before you start updating your profile, go to the Settings page and turn off outgoing notifications so your network won’t know you’re polishing your profile until you specifically tell them. Refresh your profile by updating the descriptions for each job you’ve held, inviting former colleagues, classmates and friends to join your network, adding a professional photo, and writing a powerful summary.
Revitalization is about taking action. It’s not about standing still, but going after what you want in a strong and powerful way. If you have a picture in your mind of what you want to happen next, break that picture into bite-sized pieces. This will keep you from being overwhelmed. You are better off doing one small thing every day rather than waiting for a big block of time to get many things completed. Slow and steady wins the race every time.
So, what do you say? Revise, refresh and revitalize to start living the life you love today!
