Better Analysis, Better Business

Business Analysts require a diverse skillset that includes both technical and non-technical skills. Gain a more thorough understanding of how to best combine technological savvy with other soft skills like communication and creativity by using the Business Analyst Body of Knowledge®, or BABOK®.

Developed in 2005, BABOK® has undergone constant improvement by business professionals, and now includes six core knowledge areas. These include:

  • Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring
    Negotiate change within the organization, and effectively plan, employ and monitor an analysis strategy.

  • Elicitation
    How Business Analysts work with stakeholders to help them understand their requirements within the scope of a project.

  • Requirements Management and Communication
    Ensure agreement between team members through effective communication and mediation.

  • Enterprise Analysis
    Identify and fill in gaps between an organization’s needs and capabilities.

  • Requirements Analysis
    Work with an entire team to define a solution that meets the requirements established by BABOK®.

  • Solution Assessment and Validation
    Propose your solution in a way that helps guarantee success.

  • Underlying Competencies
    Combine soft skills like leadership and problem solving with technical knowledge.
