LinkedIn Profile

Dr. Murali Vedula worked in industry for several years before he joined UWM in 1997. For the past 16 years, he has identified professional development needs and offered continuing engineering education courses to industrial professionals. Program areas include Innovation, Elastomer and Plastics Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Water Technology, Sustainability, Six Sigma and Lean. During the past three years, 25 professionals have obtained the Water Technology Certificate. In alignment with Milwaukee's role as part of the United Nations Global Compact Programme, Dr. Vedula has initiated a 5K Run/Walk for United Nations World Water Day Milwaukee.

Over the last six years, in response to the change in demographics of work in the USA, he has redirected his Six Sigma Certificate programs to meet the needs of the service and healthcare sectors. These Green Belt and Black Belt certificate programs have been extremely well received by its attendees. In addition, he offers an Office Lean Certificate program to focus on methods to reduce waste in healthcare and service transactions. He has been involved with internal training for applying office lean principles using kaizen and value stream mapping to program services at the School of Continuing Education.

Dr. Vedula has extensive experience as an educator in the community. For the past eleven years, he has been offering his popular and entertaining, "Brain Jogging" and "Mind Aerobics" presentations and short courses. During the past three years, he has been involved with the internal development of UWM employees with his "Work Smarter not Harder and Accomplish More" presentation. Dr. Vedula emphasizes the importance of energy management along with time management.

"Dr.V's" passion is people development. He believes in the possibility that anyone at any stage in their life or career can achieve a breakthrough. It takes an intense focus on the journey of self development and reaching for those opportunities when they "magically" or "luckily" appear in front of you. The "luck" happens if you focus intensely on the journey while seeking the right skills and right connections.
