Elvira T. Asuncion is presently an Outreach Program Specialist at the Center for Urban Community Development. She has over 15 years of organizational development and planning experience and has supervised over 20 staff and over 1,000 volunteers in various programs and projects she had directed and managed prior to working with the University. These programs and projects had multiple funding sources (federal, state, local), served diverse participants (children, youth, women, men, families, schools, businesses, etc.), and had diverse focuses (alcohol and drug abuse prevention, child abuse and neglect prevention, housing & homelessness, domestic violence, family education and support, nutrition, parenting education, etc.) She also facilitated workshops and classes under these projects and programs.

She is experienced in community networking and program collaboration and has used these strategies in building the capacity of the YW Family Center which she had directed for over nine years (1995-2004).

She is presently the Asian Commissioner for the Milwaukee Commission on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and chairs its Violence Prevention and Education Committee and the Asian American Task Force. She is a steering member of the Milwaukee County Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition, and has been the past chairperson and active member of the Family Connection and Program Committee of the Milwaukee Child Abuse Prevention Services.

She has a masteral program work in Organizational Development Communication and Research from the University of the Philippines including training in Organizational Development and Planning from the Southeast Asian Interdisciplinary Institute.

She presently also serves as CUCD Business/Finance Manager and is the project coordinator of its African and Asian Refugees Consortium.
