| Youth work became a passion for me at the age of 16 when I was a counselor-in-training at a YMCA camp. One of my most fulfilling youth work experiences was as a member of an in-home treatment team. I was the 'respite provider,' meaning that I was supposed to develop a relationship with an 11-year-old boy by spending 15 hours a week 'in the community' with him. The assignment lasted almost two years. For over a decade, I have been committed to developing the field of youth work and providing and promoting quality educational opportunities for youth workers, which I consider necessary in order to establish and maintain a high level of professionalism and effectiveness in the work. I also enjoy my two kids, my two dogs, and my current hobbies are beekeeping and building bat houses in order to enrich diversity and health in our natural environment.
