All students enrolled in the online GIS 215 course must have a suitable computer to run the ArcGIS software. Your computer must have the following system requirements

Windows XP, Vista, or 7 with the latest Service Pack applied
2.2GHz CPU, minimum, but hyper-threading or dual-core or better CPU strongly recommended
2.5GB of space to install the software, plus another 50MB of space in the Windows System directory
64 MB RAM minimum, 256 MB RAM or higher recommended. NVIDIA, ATI and INTEL chipsets supported
Networking hardware: Simple TCP/IP, Network Card or Microsoft Loopback Adapter is required for the License Manager.

Students enrolled in the online course are required to be comfortable in downloading and using unfamiliar GIS software. You will receive help from the Teaching Assistant in terms of laboratory assignments. Also directions for using the software are available in one of the required texts.
