Deep Earth, Deep Time: A Geophysical Perspective

In this class we will examine the driving forces for plate tectonics, as well as a variety of other geological phenomena. We will emphasize interrelationships between heat transfer, mass transfer, and deformation, while addressing topics such as rock rheology; bending of thin elastic plates; mechanical behavior of faults; and the interpretation of gravity anomalies.
