A biological process that we consider to be perfectly normal is actually a great mystery. Why do organisms have sex? Everything from viruses to humans have sex of some sort, but the biological advantage to such a haphazard mixing of genes is not at all obvious. Biologists have pondered this mystery for over a century. This course explores the variety and mechanisms of sexual processes.
