Honorary Degrees Committee

The Honorary Degrees Committee considers and recommends candidates for honorary degrees. Faculty legislation requires that at least one-half of those presented as candidates for honorary degrees have some connection with the university system, the city or the state. The Committee also considers and recommends candidates to be honored on the Ernest Spaights Plaza marker. These award recipients are honored at the Fall Awards ceremony. The Committee may consider and recommend, in consultation with the University Committee, candidates for a citation for distinguished service or significant contributions to the University. This award is given by the Chancellor.
