Energy & Climate

As SHWEC has continued to carry out its mission to help businesses, communities and families reduce waste and pollution, SHWEC has naturally developed programs to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in Wisconsin. Energy conservation and efficiency are the first and most cost effective approaches to reduce the impacts from fossil fuel based energy. Some technologies, like wind and solar power, have great economic development potential for Wisconsin. Others, like anaerobic digestion of manure, offer the ability to generate energy while managing waste in an environmentally sound manner. SHWEC co-directs the Energy On Wisconsin program with the State Energy Office to provide timely information, outreach and resources on energy.
