SHWEC provides a variety of programs related to composting. One of our longest running programs is the Master Composter program which trains volunteers how to teach others in their communities how to start a backyard compost pile.
Training and technical assistance is provided for large scale compost facility operators. These programs focus on improving compost product quality, facility operation and regulatory compliance. SHWEC staff also help to provide connections from generators of compostable wastes with compost facilities.
Composting technical assistance is provided to the agriculture sector, with a focus on small to medium size farms. SHWEC staff also provides vermicomposting/vermiculture businesses with assistance: processing, marketing and regulatory compliance.
